Here's to 2015

Happy New Year.............  So sorry the social media has taken a back step.

Well, where do I begin?  The last three months have been manic - Productive, successful and very enjoyable (in a mad kind of way)!

Every spare moment I had, I could be found upstairs in 'The Sewing Room' (Jack's bedroom - thank god for Uni) It was worth it, two very good Craft Fayres and one, well lets just say - wrong venue, poor students don't like to part with money.

Jack came home from Glasgow, Christmas & New Year came and went, no sewing room, no sewing done.  Caught up with my friends for a meal, it's been a while, and quite difficult to get seven ladies together all at once and unfortunately the 'lurgy' had caught two so we were down to five :(

I have a couple of commissions to make and them I'll get back to making myself some clothes as I sure as hell have a great selection of fabrics to choose from - remember France, mmmmm just a distant memory.

Productive day off...

Today the production line of quilted bags started.

I have decided that when making more than one of the same thing, to do it on a production line basis!!  This works better for me as I don't get fed up having to start from scratch after each one is complete, doing it in stages is far more satisfying at the end of the day when I look at how much 'work' has been done.   I have made five large bags today, one of them a commission, no idea which one she will choose as each one is different from the other, I shall give my 'client' a choice (woo, get me!)

I made one of these bags for myself some time ago, it was well admired so I made one as a present for my sister's Christmas last year - I am very happy to say she uses it on a daily basis!

These bags are rather large, the size of a supermarkets 'bag for life' but my bags are way better than those!  Certainly stand out from the crowd with these 'Quirky Quilted  Bags For Life'.

They aren't quite finished, I am waiting for metal bag feet arriving before I can post pictures, it is a very important finish to a bag.  After all, you don't want a soggy bottom when you put it down...

Busy times

Where has the time gone?  I don't seem to have enough hours in the day just now, just as well I'm part time in my paid job, well, 25 hours over 3 days and hectic enough!

I have been busy making some lovely things to sell at the craft fayre and to anyone else who's interested.  I've also opened an Etsy Shop but need to get things uploaded, I'm still not sure how all this works but small steps and all that. My new Facebook page is doing well and so far have quite a few likes, it's so exciting to see the numbers increasing.

I really need to take some time away from the sewing machine to get my head round the promotion side of all this but I'm just having too much fun for all that!!

Pending X Mas Craft Fayre.

What have I done?

With a bit of persuasion from my big sister I have only gone and bagged myself a table at our 1st ever craft fayre in the local Town Hall.

On 5th December our Christmas Tree lights will be officially switched on in the centre of town and there will be various stalls where people (kinda like myself) would like an opportunity to see how their crafty things will sell. Christmas Carols will be sung by the school choir, the local pipe& brass bands will be there and Santa on his sledge, mulled wine & mince pies too!

Much as I love making clothes, I don't think this will be where the 'likes of that' will sell so I am busy making some small items which hopefully will.

Watch this space!

Holiday over - the show must go on!

Well, we are home and here is the fabric I purchased in France - and here's me thinking my case would be lighter on the way home!

Anyway, I need my son to get back to Glasgow and free up his room (my sewing room) why do under graduates get so long a summer break?!

Also, is it just me that can't find the words "no sorry I can't" when someone at work asks me to do alterations, it so gets in the way of enjoying myself.....

The show is near over...

After a 723 Km journey from The French Pyrenees to the Cote d'azur we have arrived in Nice, a quick stop-over before the journey home tomorrow evening, back to Scotland.

My intention tomorrow is to try and fing a nice fabric shop, I've had a quick Google and it may just be possible....  Watch this space.

Bonne soirée à vous.

The dreaded sun-burn

Here in The Pyrenees as we are in the mountains, it's hot, cold, windy, cloudy - a mixed bag really! You take what you get, the scenery makes up for it anyway.
Yesterday my youngest & I got burnt sitting in windy weather, our Scottish skin didn't realise the sun was there!!  Today, confined to the conservatory part of the pool and shaded we are suffering in silence.

I did drive a round trip of 110k to another fabric shop only to find when I got there they had decided to take a day off.

The tout comes through our village tomorrow, so it's a walk into the hills for us in the morning

Au revoir pour l'instant.
